Elixir

What a small lang

So, a few days ago i've stumbled upon one very interesting programming language called Elixir. This post is not very important, I'll just put some my impressions of the lang here.

First of all, Elixir(1.20) has only 15 reserved words.. FIFTEEN! And the rest of the functionality is implemented using a very powerful macro and metaprogramming system built-in to the programming language. Even a word 'defmacro', which is encountred constantly when reading source code, is not a keyword, but a macro. So, the main tool to expand the language is not a built-in thingy. Kinda shows the level, yeah? Let's go deeper. Do you see the certain 'context' in 'defmacro' definition? As you've probably realized by now, this is implemented in std too. And I'm sure, i can go forever, finding more and more awesome triks to scale language at the level of indeed useful ones and i'm sure that elixir's idea has a very great potential.

I'm gonna do a bit of a research on this lang, maybe on a similar languages or maybe i'll even make my own and write here a bit more.
